Hill Farm stables is the home of 5* event rider Dominic Ruane and 4* event rider Harriet Dickin. Although our passion at Hill Farm is Eventing both Harriet and Dom both have extensive history and experience in racing, as a result we offer not only competition livery for sports horses but pre training for racehorses as well. Dominic has worked in horses is whole life training with the likes of Sir Mark Todd, the Fredricks and Fergal O’Brian before setting up his own yard. His first major successes were seen in 2005 when he represented GBR at the Young Rider European Championships in Sergersjo, Sweden. In 2006 Dom completed his first 5* at Burghley, riding his own Highwayman VII and in 2008 he completed Badminton on Hunters Legend. More recently Dom’s client base for teaching has grown and he offers lessons on a one to one or group basis.
Harriet has grown up on a racing yard with her father Robin formerly being a jockey and now a trainer. However, her passion has always been eventing. Harriet has trained and been based some top-class riders such as Laura Collett and Tina Cook. Dargle Looks, Harriet’s top horse has been with her since 2013 together they have progressed through the levels completing several 4* events, they aim to move up to 5* in the near future. The joint history in racing and passion for eventing has led to the team at Hill Farm having a unique approach to pre training racehorses. We believe that to give 100% in full training horses need the strength and education provided by flat work and pole work. We believe that eventing and racing compliment each other perfectly and by working both disciplines alongside one another both sides benefit.
